It is not easy to choose a dentist since there are so many factors that make each one different. You can always ask for a referral if you have a friend who has a great one. Recommendations are just one of the ways to simplify the decision making process. Here are several other ways that you can decide which dentist is the best for you.
Brush your teeth both in the morning and in the evening. Take your time. Many people simply go through the motions quickly and don’t do an efficient job. Try timing yourself to make sure that you get your teeth very clean. If you have to, sing the ABC song in your head, and don’t stop brushing until the song is over.
Some foods aren’t good for your teeth when compared to other foods. Food with a high sugar content is not good for your mouth. Do not drink very hot or cold drinks, including coffee, to keep your teeth white. Drinking through a straw is a good option, too.
If you have had your teeth whitened, you’ll want to avoid any foods that may stain your teeth. In most cases, a person will have their teeth whitened and then find that they do not stay that way for long. This is caused by eating and drinking foods or liquids that stain, such as red wine and colored food.
Do not use a hard-bristled toothbrush to brush your teeth. These brushes can open up the root surface and recede your gum-line. In addition, the composition of your teeth can deteriorate. These issues can lead to increased sensitivity and other problems, so be sure to use the softest toothbrush you can.
As was stated earlier, whitening strips are no substitute for brushing and flossing your teeth every day. Gum tooth and disease decay can still happen in teeth that are pearly white. The strips just alter the color they do not fight bacteria. It is the bacteria that will corrode your gums over time.
